Bangladesh have made history by defeating Pakistan in the second Test match in Sylhet, completing a dominant 2-0 series victory — the first ever Test series whitewash by Bangladesh against Pakistan on home soil.

Pakistan were set a challenging target of 437 runs to win the match and keep the series alive. Despite a valiant effort from Mohammad Rizwan, who top-scored with 94 runs and fought hard to keep Pakistan in the hunt, the visitors were eventually bowled out for 328 runs — falling 108 runs short of the target and handing Bangladesh a famous victory.

Bangladesh’s bowling attack was the driving force behind the win, with left-arm spinner Taijul Islam putting in a truly outstanding performance. He claimed six wickets in the second innings and finished with nine wickets across both innings — making him the standout performer of the series and a key architect of this historic result.

Bangladesh’s batsmen also played a crucial role in setting up the victory. Mushfiqur Rahim contributed a brilliant 137 runs while Litton Das chipped in with a classy 126, with both veterans helping Bangladesh build imposing totals and put Pakistan under constant pressure throughout the match.

For Bangladesh cricket, this result is nothing short of a landmark achievement. Not only is it their first ever home Test series whitewash against Pakistan, but it also signals the rapid growth of Bangladesh as a genuine force in Test cricket. The victory reflects a team that is growing in confidence, discipline and skill in the longest format of the game.

For Pakistan, however, the series defeat raises uncomfortable questions about consistency and performance in Test cricket. Analysts and former players believe significant improvements are needed in both batting and bowling if Pakistan are to reclaim their standing in the format.

Regardless of what happens next, this historic series win will forever be remembered as one of the greatest achievements in Bangladesh cricket history — a moment that confirmed they are no longer just making up the numbers in Test cricket. 🏏
