Pakistan has lost two of its brave sons in a tragic accident as a Pakistan Air Force trainer aircraft crashed during a routine operational training mission near Mianwali on Tuesday.
PAF confirmed that both pilots aboard the FT-7 trainer aircraft — Squadron Leader Haris bin Khalid and Flying Officer Ibaadur Rehman — embraced shahadat in the crash. The news has sent shockwaves across the country, with the nation mourning the loss of two dedicated officers who gave their lives in service of Pakistan.
Air Headquarters has ordered a board of inquiry to investigate the cause of the accident and determine what led to the tragic crash during what was meant to be a routine training flight.
The loss of Squadron Leader Haris bin Khalid and Flying Officer Ibaadur Rehman is a painful reminder of the sacrifices made every day by the men and women of Pakistan’s armed forces — often far from the battlefield, in training exercises designed to keep the nation safe.
Previous PAF and Military Aviation Incidents
This is not the first time Pakistan has mourned the loss of aviation personnel in training accidents. In October 2019, a Mushshak trainer aircraft belonging to Army Aviation crash-landed in a paddy field near Wazirabad in Gujranwala district — though both pilots on that occasion survived without serious injury.
In a far more devastating incident in July 2019, a Pakistan Army aviation aircraft on a routine training flight crashed near Mora Kalu in Rawalpindi, claiming the lives of 17 people.
Pakistan salutes the courage and dedication of Squadron Leader Haris bin Khalid and Flying Officer Ibaadur Rehman. May Allah grant them the highest place in Jannah and give strength and patience to their families in this time of immense grief. 🤲🖤
