Slow Internet Alert: Internet Speed in Pakistan to Drop for a Full Week Starting Tomorrow

Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) has notified its customers about a planned maintenance activity to fix a fault in one of its submarine cables.

The repair work will be carried out by the International Cable Consortium and is scheduled to start on May 11, 2026, continuing until May 18, 2026.

During this one-week maintenance period, customers may notice a drop in internet quality, especially during the evening hours. PTCL has warned that the ongoing repairs could lead to slower internet speeds and possible service interruptions for users across the country.

The maintenance is necessary to fix the existing fault in the submarine cable. Once completed, PTCL says the repairs are expected to improve the overall quality and reliability of its internet services in the long run. The company is working closely with the International Cable Consortium to complete the work as quickly as possible, but users should be prepared for occasional disruptions during this period.

PTCL has apologized for any inconvenience caused to its customers during the maintenance window. The company has assured users that all necessary steps are being taken to restore the submarine cable to full working condition and deliver better service performance once the repairs are done.
