The Punjab government has decided to set up new Sahulat Bazaars in 27 cities across the province, aiming to provide relief to citizens who are struggling with rising inflation and increasing food prices.
According to officials, the new markets will start operating from July 1, coinciding with the beginning of the new fiscal year. Alongside the fixed markets, the government will also launch 13 “Sahulat on the Go” mobile markets across multiple districts to bring affordable shopping closer to people’s doorsteps.
Authorities confirmed that fruits and vegetables at these bazaars will be available at prices up to 40 percent lower than open market rates and 18 percent below the officially set deputy commissioner rates. The initiative also includes a free home delivery service for residents living within a five kilometre radius of the bazaars.
The new Sahulat Bazaars will be established in several districts and tehsils including Bhakkar, Mianwali, Pakpattan, Rajanpur, Muzaffargarh, Mandi Bahauddin, Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, Khanewal, Faisalabad, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Okara, Sialkot, Gujrat and Sargodha.
The mobile “Sahulat on the Go” markets will operate in selected areas of Lahore, Jhelum, Bhakkar, Rawalpindi, Kasur and Faisalabad.
Deputy commissioners across the province have been directed to finalize locations and complete all preparations by June 30. Funding for the project will be included in the Punjab budget for the fiscal year 2026-27.
