Pakistan Reduces Petrol and Diesel Prices by Rs. 5 Per Litre

The federal government has announced a reduction in petrol and diesel prices for the upcoming week, providing partial relief to consumers amid rising inflation and increasing living costs across Pakistan.

According to an official notification issued by the Petroleum Division, the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel have been reduced by Rs. 5 per litre under the government’s latest fuel price adjustment.

New Petrol and Diesel Prices in Pakistan

Following the latest revision:

  • Petrol price has been reduced to Rs. 409.78 per litre
  • High-speed diesel price has been lowered to Rs. 409.58 per litre

The revised fuel prices will take effect from midnight and remain applicable for the next seven days.

Government Reviews Fuel Prices Based on Global Oil Market

Officials stated that the latest reduction is part of Pakistan’s regular petroleum pricing mechanism, which considers international crude oil prices, import costs, currency exchange rates, and government taxes and levies.

Fuel prices in Pakistan are reviewed periodically in response to fluctuations in the global energy market and changes in international oil prices.

Petrol Price Cut Expected to Provide Relief

Although the reduction is relatively modest, the decrease in fuel prices is expected to provide some financial relief to motorists, transporters, businesses, and households affected by high transportation and operational costs.

Rising petrol and diesel prices have played a major role in increasing public transport fares, logistics expenses, and the prices of essential goods in recent months.

Impact on Inflation and Cost of Living

Economic analysts believe lower petroleum prices can help reduce inflationary pressure and improve consumer sentiment, especially for middle-income and lower-income households facing financial challenges due to the increasing cost of living.

Experts say fuel prices directly affect transportation, manufacturing, agriculture, and supply chain costs, making petroleum pricing an important factor in Pakistan’s overall inflation trend and economic stability.

The government continues to monitor international oil market conditions while balancing revenue requirements and public relief measures through periodic fuel price adjustments.
