Pakistan Foreign Ministry Announces 500 Scholarships for Students From Bangladesh

Pakistan has announced the provision of 500 scholarships for students from Bangladesh over the next five years, in a major step toward strengthening the academic and people-to-people ties between the two neighboring nations.

The scholarships are being offered under the Pakistan-Bangladesh Knowledge Corridor initiative — a program originally introduced by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar during his official visit to Bangladesh in 2025. The initiative is designed to give Bangladeshi students the opportunity to pursue higher education in Pakistan across a wide range of academic disciplines, while building stronger institutional linkages and long-term educational collaboration between the two countries.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the second phase of the initiative has recently been launched in Dhaka — marking a significant step forward in putting the agreement into action. At the same time, a high-level Bangladeshi delegation is currently visiting Pakistan under the same framework to explore additional areas of cooperation in education, research and capacity building.

Government representatives described the program as a reflection of the improving diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Bangladesh, as well as a shared commitment to expanding academic partnerships and creating new opportunities for young people on both sides.

Beyond education, the initiative is also expected to foster greater cultural understanding, youth engagement and regional collaboration across South Asia — all of which are seen as essential building blocks for lasting peace and stability in the region.

Policy experts believe that scholarship programs of this nature can play a powerful role in strengthening bilateral ties over the long term. By encouraging student mobility and academic exchange, the Knowledge Corridor initiative is being viewed as a smart and meaningful investment in educational diplomacy — one that stands to benefit both countries for generations to come.
