Good News for Pakistan: Iran Allows Qatari LNG Shipment to Cross Hormuz

Pakistan and Qatar are in advanced talks to arrange at least four LNG cargo shipments that would pass through the Strait of Hormuz, sources told Dawn.

Sources also revealed that the Power Division, facing criticism over loadshedding even before summer began, has already requested the Petroleum Division to arrange around 400 million cubic feet per day (mmcfd) of LNG for power generation purposes.

LNG supplies to Pakistan were badly disrupted last month when the Strait of Hormuz was closed due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, which started after US and Israeli strikes on Iran. In response, Iran targeted fuel installations in several Gulf countries that hosted US military assets and bases. ✅
