HEC Introduces Online Degree Attestation System for Students

The Higher Education Commission of Pakistan (HEC) has launched a fully online and paperless degree attestation system, making it much easier for students and graduates across the country to get their degrees verified without visiting any office or sending physical documents.

HEC Chairman Dr Niaz Ahmed Akhtar announced the news on X, saying the commission has completely revamped its Degree Attestation System by introducing a digital process that is fast, convenient and hassle-free.

The new system allows students to submit their attestation applications online 24 hours a day, 7 days a week through the HEC e-Services Portal at www.eservices.hec.gov.pk — meaning there are no fixed office hours and no need to travel anywhere.

How Does It Work?

The process is simple and straightforward:

  • Create an account on the HEC portal and fill in your personal and academic details
  • Upload your transcripts and documents online
  • HEC will review the documents and verify credentials with the relevant university
  • Pay the fee online through 1-Link
  • After final review, an e-attestation certificate will be issued
  • You will receive a notification via SMS and email
  • Download your verifiable certificate directly from your HEC portal account

Why Is This a Big Deal?

Before this system, students had to either visit HEC offices in person or send their original documents by post just to get them attested. The whole process was slow, expensive and inconvenient — especially for students living in remote areas far from HEC offices.

The new digital system replaces the traditional stamp with a verifiable e-certificate, cutting down both the time and cost involved in the attestation process significantly.

It is worth noting that HEC had announced plans to revamp its attestation system back in December last year, promising to integrate blockchain technology into the process within six months. The National Assembly Standing Committee on Government Assurances had also previously urged HEC to speed up its degree attestation turnaround time. The launch of this online system appears to be the result of those efforts.
