The Rs. 25 billion Multan-Vehari Road project in South Punjab is now in its final stages, with approximately 80 percent of the construction work already completed. Spanning nearly 90 kilometres across parts of Multan, Vehari and Khanewal districts, the massive infrastructure initiative is set to transform transportation and connectivity across one of Punjab’s most important regions.
Authorities have set June 30 as the official target completion date and have directed all relevant departments and contractors to ensure the remaining work is finished on time without compromising on quality. Officials have made it clear that as the project enters its final phase, construction standards must be maintained at the highest possible level.
Once completed, the upgraded road network is expected to make travel significantly easier and faster for daily commuters, cut down journey times and improve the smooth movement of goods and services between key commercial and agricultural areas of South Punjab. The project is also expected to give a major boost to economic activity by improving access to markets and strengthening regional trade links that are vital for local businesses and farmers.
During a recent inspection visit, officials reviewed progress on different sections of the road and assessed the overall pace of construction. Concerned departments were instructed to maintain close coordination with contractors and stay on track with the construction timeline to ensure the project is delivered before the deadline.
Once handed over, the Multan-Vehari Road is expected to become a vital artery for South Punjab — modernizing the region’s transport infrastructure and delivering long-term benefits for residents, businesses and the local economy for generations to come.
