PCB Posts Record Rs 7.54 Billion Profit in PSL 2026 as 8-Team Format Pays Off

The Pakistan Super League 2026 has delivered a landmark financial result, with the Pakistan Cricket Board reporting a record pre-tax profit of Rs 7.54 billion — more than three times the previous season’s profit of approximately Rs 2 billion.

The PCB shared the impressive figures with a Senate Standing Committee, revealing that total revenue crossed Rs 10.19 billion while expenses stood at around Rs 2.64 billion. The extraordinary financial leap was largely driven by the expansion of the league from six to eight teams — a decision officials have described as a “masterstroke” that dramatically strengthened PSL’s commercial appeal and market value.

The two new franchises were sold for Rs 1.75 billion and Rs 1.85 billion respectively, injecting significant additional income into the league. Sponsorships, broadcasting rights, ticket sales and merchandise revenue all contributed meaningfully to the overall growth, with the PCB’s own share from the central revenue pool reaching over Rs 1.29 billion.

What Will the Money Be Used For?

The PCB plans to reinvest a portion of this financial success back into the development of cricket across Pakistan. Key initiatives include stadium renovations in Karachi and the construction of a brand new cricket stadium in Islamabad — projects that will benefit players, fans and the broader cricketing ecosystem for years to come.

The growing valuations of PSL franchises reflect increasing investor confidence in Pakistan cricket as a commercial product with genuine long-term potential.

For Pakistani cricket fans, this record profit signals an exciting future — better player facilities, stronger grassroots programmes and an even bigger and more spectacular PSL in the seasons ahead. 🏏
