The Punjab government has proposed a 99% reduction in token tax for electric vehicles (EVs) as part of its efforts to promote clean transportation and reduce environmental pollution.
The proposed relief is expected to significantly lower the cost of owning electric vehicles, encouraging more consumers to switch from conventional fuel-powered vehicles to environmentally friendly alternatives. Officials say the initiative aligns with broader goals of reducing carbon emissions, improving air quality, and supporting sustainable urban development.
If approved, the measure could provide a major boost to Pakistan’s growing electric vehicle market and accelerate the transition toward greener transportation solutions.
