Saudi Arabia has completed preparations for the annual replacement of the Kiswah, the black silk cloth that covers the Holy Kaaba in Makkah, ahead of the start of the new Islamic year.
The Kiswah is handcrafted using high-quality black silk and adorned with verses from the Holy Quran embroidered in gold and silver-plated threads. The replacement ceremony is one of the most significant annual events associated with the Two Holy Mosques and is carried out by specialized teams under strict supervision.
The tradition symbolizes reverence for Islam’s holiest site and reflects the Kingdom’s continued commitment to serving pilgrims and preserving Islamic heritage.
