An Additional Sessions Court in Islamabad has sentenced Umar Hayat to death in the murder case of 17-year-old TikToker Sana Yousaf, bringing a major legal conclusion to one of the most widely followed criminal cases in recent months.

The verdict was announced after the completion of the trial and a detailed review of evidence, marking the end of judicial proceedings at the trial court level.

Court Verdict Announced by Judge Muhammad Afzal Majoka

The decision was delivered by Judge Muhammad Afzal Majoka, nearly one year after the tragic incident that took place on June 2, 2025, when Sana Yousaf was shot dead outside her residence in Islamabad.

The case gained significant public and media attention due to the victim’s young age and her popularity on social media platforms, particularly TikTok.

Evidence, Witness Statements, and Forensic Reports Examined

During the trial, the court reviewed multiple forms of evidence, including:

  • Witness testimonies
  • Forensic and medical reports
  • Investigative findings submitted by authorities
  • Additional supporting documentation

After examining the complete case record, the court found the accused guilty beyond reasonable doubt and issued a death sentence along with a financial penalty.

Case Attracted Nationwide Attention

The murder case drew widespread public interest across Pakistan, with many closely following the investigation and court proceedings over several months.

The incident also sparked broader discussions on:

  • Safety of young social media influencers
  • Violence against women
  • Digital fame and public exposure risks
  • Law enforcement and justice system response

Legal Right to Appeal in Higher Court

Following the verdict, legal experts note that the convicted individual has the right to challenge the sentence in a higher court, as provided under Pakistan’s judicial system.

The case now moves into the appellate phase if an appeal is filed.
